World TB Day 24 March 2013
The World TB Day campaign is focused on individuals around the world who have found new ways to stop TB and can serve as an inspiration to others. The idea is to recognize people who have introduced a variety of innovations in a variety of settings. Operation ASHA celebrated World TB day by focusing on awareness, a much needed area.
BHUBANESWAR, ODISHA
Operation ASHA is indeed proud to have provider Rashmita Khatoon as a part of its family who was selected as the “Best DOTS community partner” and was awarded a cash prize and a certificate by the DTO, Dr. Panigrahi on the World TB Day.
“But success is not about awards and trophies,” says Sandeep Ahuja, Operation ASHA’s dynamic and dedicated CEO. “Our success lies in the fact that we have developed a patient-friendly, high impact, scalable and replicable model, and in our ability to deliver the entire gamut of TB-centric interventions, ie active case finding, education, and most importantly, prevention of MDR-TB. So we are impactful on both the fronts: patient wellness, and from a public health perspective.”
A cycle rally was also organized in different slum areas in which the school students of the slums carried placards in their hands on cycles. A meeting was held in the IMA (Indian Medical Association) where the STO was also present. He released the Annual Reports for RNTCP Odisha. Cultural shows and refreshment accompanied the occasion.
RAIPUR: Operation ASHA celebrated the World TB day along with RNTCP staff and other NGOs working for TB eradication at Raipur. Distinguished guests, Dr. T.K Aggrawal (STO) and Dr. Mahindra Singh (DTO) were also present. They reconfirmed their commitment in working with total dedication to eradicate TB from the urban slums of Raipur. They emphasized on creating awareness about TB being fully treatable and also about the DOTS regimen with the help of electronic media and print media. On the eve of the much awaited day a Cricket match was also organized by Care India.
INDORE (MP)
INDORE: On the occasion of world T.B day a program was organized by District Health society (T.B) Indore, where Rajeev Batham, Program Manager, Operation ASHA was honored for his outstanding contribution and excellent work. A memento and a certificate were given by Joint Director Health Indore in the presence of RNTCP staff, CMHO Indore, D.T.O and other medical staff.
On this day a huge rally was also organized in Indore. Staff of operation ASHA, friends, patients and their relatives took part in it. The rally covered different parts of the city spreading awareness about the importance of timely and accurate diagnosis of TB.
BHOPAL (MP) :
A rally was organized in Bhopal from Kamala Nehru Hospital to DTC in which vibrant OpASHA staff along with STO Dr.Saxena, CMO Dr. Tiwari, DTO Dr.Verma and other partner NGOs took part. They all pledged to fight collectively against the killer disease.
GWALIOR, (MP)
World TB day here was celebrated in Urdu Primary School Avadpura with enthusiastic participation of Operation ASHA and RNTCP staff. They spread awareness about how TB is caused, what are its symptoms, what preventions and precautions are to be taken, and how to make ones immunity system strong. The World TB Day calls people all over the world to make an individual call to stop TB in their lifetimes so that no one gets sick from TB and also most important, no one dies from TB. A Rally was also organized with dedicated participation of RNTCP staff, school children and CPs
JABALPUR (MP)
Operation ASHA celebrated the much awaited day at Sneh Sadan auditorium. The program was presided over by CMHO, Dr B S Chouhan and the chief guest was Father Mathew. DHO, DTO & other Doctors of medical college Hospital were also present.
MORADABAD (UP):
A rally was organized by the staff of Operation ASHA in which they participated with full enthusiasm. This rally was initiated by CMO Dr. Sanjeev from the District hospital to the TB hospital. DTO DK Preami praised Operation ASHA for its excellent work. This was followed by an interactive session.
In Korba, and Durg Bhilai too where Operation ASHA is working religiously with its targeted mission of eradication of TB, celebrated this day with utmost sincerity.
The celebrations were held at the District hospital in the presence of RNTCP staff, DTO and CMHO.
Although massive all round efforts are being made to overcome and totally eradicate this disease but the goal of TB elimination can only be reached by working together to detect, treat, and prevent this disease. One must remember that the fight to stop TB will only be successful if local, state, national, and international partners from all sectors of our society join resources and collaborate to find solutions.
