Dr. Saurabh Gupta

Completed schooling from The Scindia School, Gwalior in 1988. Graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from King George’s Medical College, Lucknow in 1995 followed by a Master of Dental Science from the University of Sydney in 1998.

Have over 12 years of teaching experience (Bachelors’ & Masters’ students) at reputed Dental Colleges, guiding students towards being competent and conscientious professionals. Have supervised Masters’ students for thesis/dissertations and served as an Examiner for BDS & MDS students. Invited as Guest Faculty to SSR Dental College, Mauritius in March-April 2008. Publications in indexed peer-reviewed national and international journals.

Have been actively practicing dentistry for 18 years with a genuine desire to serve the community at large. Active participation in community & school oral health promotion programmes, providing free treatment to the economically challenged.

Served the Indian Dental Association at Local, State & National level at various posts, including President & Secretary of the Local branch.

Regularly attend conferences, seminars and continuing education programmes for continuous professional development.

Mr. Dilbag Rai Arora

Dr. D.R. Arora is working in various capacities with Ministry of Finance- Department of Revenue, Government of India in Central Revenue Chemical Service since 1973. He was engaged in the analysis of opium and its alkaloids for two years. He is carrying out analysis, supervision and administration work in various Central Excise and Customs Labs. He is also taking care of classification of various commodities such as chemicals, textiles, drugs, metals etc for their tariff classification and also offering technical opinions there on. He worked as a Research Assistant for two years in ICMR (Indian Council of Medical Research Scheme) from 1971 to 1973. He has an M.Sc in Chemistry.

Mr. Raghavendra Chitta

Raghavendra Chitta has close to 11 years of experience primarily in the healthcare and life sciences domain. Working with some of the leading industry players he has developed significant experience in the areas of data analytics, market research, market intelligence and delivering research based advisory and consulting services.  He also has a proven track record of participating in various research projects with real-time experience in planning, execution, application of methodologies, documentation and presentation of findings. Currently he is working with one of the Big4, where he is responsible for development benchmarking services for transaction advisory business. In his earlier role with a startup, he developed, managed, led and delivered a new web based market intelligence offering in life sciences and pharmaceutical domain.

He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in computer science and engineering from Madras University and his MBA from International Management Institute (IMI), New Delhi.

Ms. Urvashi Prasad

Urvashi Prasad completed her Bachelors in Biological Sciences from the University of Birmingham, U.K. and her Masters in Bioscience Enterprise from the University of Cambridge, U.K. She is currently managing the health, water and sanitation initiatives of the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation in India. Prior to joining the foundation in 2008, she worked as a consultant with Cambridge Enterprise, a wholly owned subsidiary of the University of Cambridge that helps commercialize university discoveries for the benefit of society and the UK economy. Urvashi’s aspiration is to set up an organization that will help scale-up evidence-based interventions in the public health space and improve health outcomes for vulnerable populations and people living in poverty. Urvashi is passionate about gender issues and making a meaningful contribution to India’s political system. Urvashi is part of the World Economic Forum’s Global Shapers Community.

Dr Y.S.P. Thorat

Dr. Y.S.P. Thorat who retired as Chairman, NABARD in November 2007, was till recently the Chief Executive Officer of the Rajiv Gandhi Trust and Member, Advisory Panel, Rajiv Gandhi Foundation. He has been recently appointed by Government of Maharashtra as Chairman of the Dry land Farming Commission.

Earlier Dr Thorat was Chairman, Working Group on Institutional Finance, Risk Management and Cooperatives for the 12th Plan set up by the Planning Commission, Government of India, Member, Governing Board, NIBM , Member, India Advisory Board, OCP, Strategic Advisor, Microensure, an international NGO engaged in the provision of insurance services to the poor and Advisor, GIZ.

His present appointments include Member, Senate and Academic Council, Shivaji University, Kolhapur; Member,Advisory Board, Indian Society of Agricultural Professionals; Director, TATA Chemicals Ltd; Director, Rallis India Ltd; Director, Parag Milk Foods Pvt ltd; He is non Executive Chairman of NCDEX and the Sahayog Group of industries and serves on the boards of Khed Developers-Pune and Gokaldas Exports -Bangalore. He is associated with several educational institutes including the Governing Board of the DY Patil University, Kolhapur.

Dr.Thorat started his career in the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in 1972 and was appointed Executive Director in 2003. The appointments held by him while in RBI included Principal, BTC; Regional Director, New Delhi, Maharashtra and Goa, etc. While in service he was on the Boards of the Oriental Bank of Commerce, Punjab National Bank, Infrastructure Development and Finance Co, Export Import Bank of India, Export Credit and Guarantee Corporation of India, National Commodities and Derivatives Exchange,Institute of Rural Development, Anand etc. In 2004, he was appointed by GOI as Managing Director, National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) and elevated a year later as Chairman. After retirement he lectured for a year in Philosophy at the Foundation for Liberal and Management Education, FLAME, Pune, where he was Dean, School of Liberal Education.

Dr Thorat holds a degree in Political Science and Law and a doctorate in Economics.

He was awarded the D.Lit in 2011 by the D Y Patil University, Mumbai.

Dr.Thorat has wide experience in administration, HR, rural finance, agricultural indebtedness, cooperatives, microfinance and risk mitigation having chaired a number of national level committees including the Group of Experts on Sugar Policy, Committee to Formulate a Comprehensive Human Resource Policy for RRBs [GoI], Expert Group on Investment Credit [RBI], Expert Group on Credit Deposit Ratio of Banks (GoI).

He has been associated as Member of various International Committees Including Advisory Committee for Microcredit Summit Campaign, Halifax and as Banking Specialist for the UN-FAO Mission to Ethiopia, UNOPS Mission to Maldives, Member Secretary, High Power Team to study Rural Financial Institutions in Indonesia, High Level Team to study Credit Agricole etc.

As a Visiting Lecturer, he regularly lectures at various Universities including Reading, UK, Manchester UK and Geneva, Switzerland. He has published various monographs and research paper during his career on a variety of subjects relating to finance, agriculture and credit.

Alok Agarwal, M.D., Treasurer

Dr. Agarwal has an MD from King Georges Medical College, Lucknow. After that, he worked in UK and Saudi Arabia for many years. Currently he is a senior consultant at Apollo Hospital in New Delhi.
